About the Role


A full time Programme Leader to join the Teacher Education department which sits within School of Access at The City of Liverpool College. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of academic modules at the University Centre and observation of trainees whilst on placement or in the workplace. You will be the key liaison between the University Centre and the University of Huddersfield, ensuring that all quality assurance procedures are adhered to. Experience of teaching within FE or the lifelong learning sector is essential. Experience of delivering initial teacher training programmes is highly desirable. Experience of observing and mentoring colleagues and trainees/NQTs is essential.


You will join and lead a small department who have many years’ experience providing successful provision to our students. We have built strong links with local, regional, and national Higher Education Institutions, and our students benefit from this. We are seeking a lecturer who can build on these links, and further strengthen our team by providing effective and stimulating opportunities for all students, through high quality teaching, learning and assessment.

Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
