Job overview

Programme Manager

Fixed Term until August 2019

Any Teach First Regional Office

When Sara moved to England from Jordan she couldn’t speak a word of English. Frustrated, her behaviour plummeted and she was almost excluded from school. Now she’s studying history at the University of Oxford.

We work with thousands of brilliant teachers, schools, universities and partners in England and Wales, helping young people like Sara to achieve their ambitions, and to support this work we are looking for an exceptional Programme Manager to join us on a Fixed Term Contract until August 2019.

This role is responsible for the central planning and project management of Summer Institute (weeks 1-5) - this includes overseeing and project managing the team who will deliver Summer Institute; making in-year operational decisions; cohering and implementing the release of SI information; monitoring risks and problem solving.

You are adept at leading, developing and implementing complex project plans that have implications across departments and the wider organisation. You also deliver events on time, within budget, that meet (and hopefully exceed) expectations, and are someone who communicates and maintains timelines and priorities in relation to each element of the project.

Along with the satisfaction of knowing you are making a real difference, you will also receive £37,544 per annum, with roles based in London receiving a further £3000 London Weighting, & excellent benefits.

We trust our people and believe that you do your best work when you can balance your work and home life. Our Agile working policy lets you agree with your line manager when and where you work most effectively.

The day when no child’s future is limited by their background is coming, yet, there is still more to be done. Join us and help us ensure every child in the UK has a fair shot at their ambitions.

Teach First is an independent educational charity, Reg. No. 1098294, established in 2002 to directly address the problem of educational disadvantage.  Now in its eighth year, Teach First has already changed the lives of thousands of young people. Working with a range of partner organisations Teach First harnesses the energy, enthusiasm and drive of exceptional graduates to provide leadership, motivation and, above all, inspirational teaching in challenging schools across England, through a two year Leadership Development Programme.  The Programme combines working, qualifying and training as a teacher with leadership development training, coaching and mentoring, and a range of networking and internship opportunities. Beyond the two-year Programme, Teach First works to empower, equip and mobilise its ambassadors (alumni) with the skills, tools and networks they need to support the Teach First mission by driving forward sustainable change in education from both inside and outside the classroom.

Teach First is currently ranked 8th in the coveted league of Times Top 100 Graduate Employers – the highest ranked charity in Britain, and was the Charity Awards Education and Training Charity of the Year 2009. The organisation currently has 160 employees across the country with an annual operating budget of over £12 million. We rely on voluntary donations from companies and foundations and other sources to continue our work.  We also receive support from the government and uniquely have been identified by all three political parties in their election manifestoes as an initiative they each wish to support and expand.
