Queen Katharine Academy (QKA) is a member of the Cambridgeshire-based Thomas Deacon Education Trust and opened in September 2017. QKA is a larger-than-average, age 11 to 19 school in north Peterborough with approximately 1,700 pupils on roll, including 350 in the sixth form.

School Mantra
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
- Nelson Mandela

After working with groups of students and staff, we are pleased to launch our ‘QKA Way’. Our academy mantra demonstrates our belief that providing our students with a world-class education will enable them to positively influence the world.

Our values are Ambition, Responsibility and Respect and these fit perfectly with Katharine of Aragon who our academy is named after. Katherine was ambitious for herself and her daughter, Mary, who went on to be Queen of England. She understood her responsibility as Queen and Henry VIII’s wife and ensured her duty came before everything else. She treated others with respect and was known for ruling with kindness and fairness. We are proud to share these values with Queen Katharine.

We are also launching our student and staff pledges; promises that we make to our academy community to ensure we have an environment where we are all safe and able to thrive. We expect all students and staff to uphold their 5 pledges.

Values

1. Respect

2. Ambition

3. Responsibility

Pledges (students)

1. We will take opportunities given to us to improve and progress

2. Uphold our core values in everything that we do

3. Consistently attend school and lessons on time

4. Help and support others with kindness by being an upstander

5. Show respect to ourselves, others, and our environment

Pledges (staff)

1. We will teach good and outstanding lessons

2. Ensure an environment where students are supported and safe

3. Have high expectations that foster ambition and independence

4. We will be accountable and responsible

5. Promote and provide opportunities to broaden and enrich student experiences

These pledges unite all members of our community and promote a sense of belonging and pride to be part of our academy.
