ACS International Schools are recruiting a Project Manager to join the Estates & Facilities Team focusing on a multi-year development, refurbishment, and upgrade plan across our historic campuses.

Founded in 1967, ACS International Schools educate over 3,700 students, aged 2 to 18, day and boarding, from more than 100 countries. ACS delivers an internationally renowned curriculum enabling graduates to attend the college of their choice, and many of the world's finest universities.

As part of the ACS Estates and Facilities Team, the Project Manager will be responsible for projects up to c£0.5m in value and assisting Senior members of the E&F team on larger projects typically up to c£10m ensuring that all these projects meet the required standards for time, cost, and quality of delivery. Working with the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the Estates team’s appointed contractor base and supply chain, and engaging with the team’s professional consultant advisers who are engaged to support capital projects. The role also acts as a focal point for liaison with stakeholders of capital projects as they are delivered across the school.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Work with the ACS Senior Project Manager to be responsible for the delivery of specific projects and project milestones. This includes ensuring individual projects are developed in sufficient detail for business cases, procurement, and construction, coordinating user groups to develop and input into designs, value for money costs, operational procedures, and monitoring requirements.

• In conjunction with the Senior Project Manager, produce a strategy for successful delivery and management of projects across all campuses as appropriate.

• To develop, monitor and manage a procurement strategy for all campus projects with on the ground assistance from Facilities/Project Manager. This could include reviewing or assisting in putting together project specifications for all proposed works in conjunction with site Facilities Managers.

• Oversee production of tender schedules and contribute to the procurement processes for all campuses.

• Ensure that the overall ACS Estates and Facilities project programme is kept up to date.

• Ensure that procedures are being followed for the supervision of contractors working on ACS campuses.

• Take responsibility for monitoring that safe project working practices are adhered to for all ACS and site personnel in accordance with internal ACS, and statutory, regulatory Health and Safety procedures.

• Ensure a robust process in place to induct contractors on site and that ACS induction documentation is completed, including that the ACS Health and Safety policies have been made clear and understood.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

• Must have experience of managing professional teams in delivering refurbishment projects through the full project lifecycle and ideally hold a recognized project management qualification, preferably as a client-side project manager.

• Confident and professional, with strong stakeholder management skills.

• Must be able to communicate in an effective way that meets a diverse audience, including good written and oral communication.

• Must be degree qualified, or similar relevant equivalent qualifications.

• Knowledge of listed / historic buildings an advantage.

• Strong financial management skills, managing budgets and forecasting expenditure.

• Strong IT skills, including experience of Autocad and Microsoft Project.

• Strong project management, organisational and logistics management skills.

• Ability to adapt to, and manage, change.

• Excellent knowledge of key project processes such as design principles and construction management processes, procurement, and tendering.

• Experience of working within the Education sector and occupied premises an advantage.

• Familiar with the use of different types of construction procurement and contracts.

• Able to prepare project specifications for tendering purposes.

• Must have good technical awareness of construction processes.

• Good knowledge of Health and Safety Management in a construction/engineering environment.

• Recognised Health and Safety training, to include CDM and asbestos awareness an advantage.

• Experience of managing contractors and understanding the principles of working safely.

This is a full time, permanent role, predominantly based at ACS Cobham with regular travel to Egham & Hillingdon.

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm.

Situated on 128-acres of Surrey countryside, 20 miles south of Central London, ACS Cobham enrols over 1,350 students aged between 2 and 18 - Early Childhood through High School - offering both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and an American curriculum, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Campus sports facilities include six tennis courts, an Olympic-sized track, playing fields for soccer, rugby and baseball and a six-hole golf course. A state-of-the-art Sports Centre houses a 25-metre competition indoor swimming pool, basketball/volleyball show courts, dance and fitness studios, and a café

The Dormitory provides a home-away-from-home for over 100 students, aged 12-18 (7th through 12th Grades). Boarders share ergonomically designed two-person rooms with ensuite facilities and internet connections; there are student lounges, kitchens, computer and study rooms. Six full-time Dormitory house parents and over ten resident teaching staff ensure an active yet well-considered programme of pastoral care, friendship and advisor groups, house activities and weekend trips.
