Children at all levels are taught with a mixture of direct instruction, guided learning, blended learning and inquiry based learning projects. There is an emphasis on mastering necessary Literacy and numeracy in the Early Years, along with Christian, social and emotional growth. The Year 7 to 12 Program provides students with numerous pathways that are completed through their core and elective subjects. Core subjects in Years 7 to 10 include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Christian Life, Digital Technology, Healthy Choices and Physical Education. Other subjects that are core at Year 7 & 8 (LOTE (French), Music, Digital Technology, Art) are then offered as electives in subsequent years whilst the Arts (Visual and Performing), Outdoor Education, Food Technology / Hospitality, are offered as elective studies. Students in Years 11 & 12 undertake studies to complete their Victorian Certificate of Education. Selected Year 10 students are also given the opportunity to begin VCE studies whilst in Year 10.

Year 9 students undertake a special program known as the "Year of Challenge". This program, in addition to their academic studies, provides them with opportunities to face numerous challenges that will extend and engage them in spiritual, social, emotional, and physical ways.

There is also well resourced Physical Education, Sport and Camps programs, and extra curricular opportunities in Music, Hospitality and Christian service (students in Years 10 to 12, in particular, participate in Missions trips)

The school is well known for its Christian values and for having a very caring, encouraging and relational community environment.

Student well being is developed through our "Five Foundations of a healthy, whole, Heatherton student" framework. This is based on Mark 12: 29, 30 and aims to ensure children grow Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally (or Academically), Physically and Socially.    so-bidi-font-fa˖}%!
