The Psychology Teacher at Rome International School (RIS) will play a pivotal role in the Middle High School (MHS) department, introducing IBDP Psychology into the IGCSE and DP curriculum. The successful candidate will foster a dynamic learning environment, facilitating engaging lessons to ensure all students achieve their full potential. They will demonstrate exceptional subject knowledge, coupled with a passion for delivering psychology education in an imaginative level and enthusiastic manner. Additionally, they will contribute to the broader school community through extracurricular involvement and departmental collaboration.

TEACHING AND LEARNING:

● Deliver internationally adapted Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP HL and SL Psychology curriculum. The position may include additional teaching responsibilities in another subject area which match the applicant’s skills and experience.

● Cultivate students' curiosity, interest, and enjoyment in Psychology.

● Provide timely feedback on assessments, adhering to departmental marking policies.

● Personalize learning experiences, supporting diverse student needs including EAL and SEN strategies.

● Foster understanding and application of Psychology within broader contexts.

● Assign homework in alignment with policy and student workload.

● Engage in departmental and MHSSLT classroom visits.

● Undertake report writing and internal grading duties as necessary.

DEPARTMENTAL:

● Contribute to extracurricular activities and share best practices within the department.

● Fulfill assigned subject-related duties designated by the Head of Department.

● Attend departmental and moderation meetings as required.

● Adhere closely to departmental policies and schemes of work.

PASTORAL AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR:

● Assume pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor.

● Manage student behavior within classroom and school premises, enforcing school policies.

● Contribute to extracurricular and sporting programs as directed.

● Prioritize health and safety, ensuring compliance with school guidelines.

OTHER DUTIES:

● Undertake cover duties and examination invigilation as needed.

● Fulfill break, lunch, and chaperone duties as assigned by MHS Principal.

● Attend staff meetings, parents' evenings, and professional development sessions.

● Engage in the RIS Professional Growth Plan and performance appraisal scheme.

REQUIREMENTS:

● Hold an appropriate teaching degree or certification.

● Possess a minimum of three years' teaching experience.

● Demonstrated experience teaching IB Psychology at SL or HL level.

● Exhibit a passion for teaching and holistic student development.

● Maintain a high level of professionalism and prioritize student well-being.

● Show consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.

● Respect for diversity within the school community.

● Previous experience working with non-native level English speakers.

● Positive and solution-focused attitude towards work.

● Enhanced DBS disclosure.
