Job overview

Required for September 2017 or as soon as possible afterwards

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, inspirational, professional and enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to ensure outstanding quality and exemplary support for the young women we serve. As a member of staff you will be valued and supported; in return we are looking for commitment, drive and enthusiasm.

Wychwood offers psychology at GCSE and A-level courses and this post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher looking to develop her/his career, potential and skills. The psychology post is a part time post which will involve an unusual degree of autonomy. As the only psychology teacher, you will have sole charge of planning and delivering lessons in psychology throughout the school. There will not always be KS 5 teaching due to the size of the school and in these years, staff are expected to undertake other duties. There is the opportunity to make this a full time position as the position of Extended Project Co-ordinator is also available to the right applicant.

Candidates who are subject to a term’s notice are invited to contact the school as soon as possible and certainly before the closing date as interviews could be accelerated where necessary.

The post could suit an independent and adventurous NQT.

Previous applicants need not re-apply.

The School offers a competitive salary, attractive benefits package and a supportive and friendly work environment.

For further details about this exciting opportunity and to apply please contact Mrs Sue Grainger on s.grainger@wychwoodschool.org

Values and Vision

Wychwood School sets a high academic standard for its pupils. Admission for prospective pupils involves an entrance test, with entrants into the school sixth form being required to take examinations in whichever A Levels they are looking to study. As well as its high-quality curriculum, Wychwood takes great pride in the personal and spiritual development of its pupils, and to this end offers a range of extra-curricular activities, including numerous international field trips, performing arts opportunities and sports. The school also seeks to create a strong sense of community among its students, particularly boarders, and as such encouraged older boarders to support new students.

ISI Inspection

“The teaching methods used are devised to enable good progress for pupils by encouraging them to develop skills and understanding, and acquire new knowledge. Time is managed effectively. Teaching is characterised by well-planned lessons that take into account individual needs and prior attainment, including for those with SEND, English as an additional language (EAL) and the more able pupils.”
