We have a fantastic opportunity at our Newry Campus for an experienced and interactive Pupil Care Assistant on a full time, permanent, term time only basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated carer to provide 1:1 support for a SEND student currently in KS2. This role will also involve working closely with the learning support assistant and Coordinator where necessary.


Key responsibilities:

  •  This 1:1 role is to support a child with a Statement of Special Educational Needs with complex, physical / medical needs. The student is 10 years of age and wheelchair bound with Spina Bifida.
  • Provide support for all activities of daily living including eating and drinking
  • To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil to whom you are assigned
  • Provide intimate care by way of daily intermittent catheterisation process
  • To enable to the student to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them
  • Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area
  • Build positive working relationships and links with parents

You will:

  • Have experience of working with children with complex care needs and on a 1:1 basis
  • Be adaptable, resilient and have a desire to make a lasting difference to the lives of our students
  • Be trustworthy and discreet maintaining confidentiality
  • Be able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Uphold and the OneSchool Global UK ethos within all areas of responsibility
