Gracemount has a highly committed and highly motivated staff who work effectively to meet the needs in our school. Staff are keen to embrace the debate around equity and closing the gap and we are building long term sustainable supports to meet the needs of our pupils. Gracemount Primary School is a non-denominational school built in 1960 which serves the area of southeast Edinburgh. The school serves a catchment area which has a broad social mix and has a significant number of children from backgrounds of multiple deprivations. The school is designated a local authority positive action school and feeds in to Gracemount High School.
The school role is 533 and continues to rise as the new housing developments near completion. We have 18 classes in the school and 12 pupil support assistants working in the school that are timetabled to meet the needs of specific children. We also look to use PSA’s to raise attainment and encourage our children’s aspiration and expectations.
The successful candidate will be someone capable of forming and sustaining positive relationships with our pupils. We believe that better relationships enable better learning and this will produce better behaviour in school. We are looking for a positive, energetic and enthusiastic person to join the fantastic Gracemount team.
This role is for 25 hours spread across five days of the week within the school times of 8:25am to 2:55pm.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
