PYP Coordinator:

Primary Responsibilities:

•             Provide pedagogical and administrative leadership of the IB Primary Years Programme along with the Junior School Principal

•             Work with the Junior School principal, Head of Academy and colleagues to support the vision and mission of the Academies.

•             Work with the Junior School Principal to conduct classroom observations and appraisals of staff, and develop and implement a structured professional development plan to ensure all teachers are knowledgeable and skilled in the PYP pedagogy and classroom practices

•             Participate in the Outreach Programme of the Academy and promote service learning in the community.

•             Promote the values of the IB PYP and ensure the rigorous implementation of a coherent written curriculum from grades 1 to 5.

•             Maintain the archive of all PYP documentation related to the Primary Years Programme for programme evaluation, including the programme of inquiry, PYP planners and unit documentation.

•             Review existing curriculum documents on a regular basis.

•             Provide support and mentor teachers in the implementation of the PYP.

•             Identify and procure appropriate learning resources to support inquiry based teaching and learning.

•             In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the PYP Coordinator will be expected to take on a teaching load of 40-50%. 

Required Attributes:

•             A recognised degree in Education from a reputable university.

•             Minimum of 5 years relevant PYP experience

Experience in developing and providing workshops and professional development opportunities for staff.

•             the ability to participate in team teaching, implementation and collaborative planning 

Valued additional assets: 

•             Training as PYP workshop leader

•             Proven ICT skills.
