Hours: 22.5 hours per week

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and inspirational Teacher to join our teaching team, with proven track records in achieving high standards of quality.

The successful candidate will preferably need to be experienced in the delivery of Art and/or Outdoor Learning to small groups of students or on a one to one basis.

As a Teacher at Tor View School your key areas of responsibility and experience will include:

  • Planning and preparation of art or outdoor programme delivery and/or classroom based training sessions
  • Delivery of activities for which you hold the appropriate qualifications, or for which you have been in-house assessed, and assisting alongside staff of a relevant level of qualification or experience
  • Promoting and enabling social development opportunities
  • Providing creative approaches to learning
  • An understanding of project-based learning
  • Experience in the use of interventions
  • An understanding or experience of working with students with a range of complex needs, including ASC or Emotional, Social and Attachment related needs.

  • A professional attitude with vision, creativity and enthusiasm who will contribute to the continued development of our school

Preferred start date September 2020.  This is a fixed term role for one year pending a review of our current provision.

At Priory Education we are proud of our reputation for delivering quality education and care services with positive outcomes for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have experienced difficulties in their previous education placements.

Devon Children's Services is made up of two schools, Quay View School (Bere Alston) and Tor View School (Tavistock) and four children's homes based in Tavistock, Gunnislake and Okehampton. We specialise in the care and education of children and young people aged 7-19 with autism, learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and SEMH. As a diverse school, Tor View in Tavistock specialises in high quality day and residential educational provisions for children aged between 7-19 with autism and/or complex learning needs. Tor View is part of Devon and Cornwall Services in the Southern Pennisula, which includes Quay View School in Bere Alston and four children's homes situated in local communities in Devon and Cornwall.
