Are you a highly skilled, experienced and self-motivated adult learning professional, with a strong commitment to delivering high quality adult learning to Islington residents who need it the most?

If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Quality and Curriculum Manager/Deputy Head of Service.

Islington Adult and Community Learning (ACL) sits at the heart of Islington Council delivering a service that supports the vision of making Islington fairer and helping create a place where everyone, whatever their background, has the same opportunity to reach their potential and enjoy a good quality of life. We were recently rated as Good (2) by Ofsted, with outstanding features. We are proud of the service we deliver to over 2,300 of our unemployed residents, from diverse backgrounds. Through accredited and non-accredited learning provision we support people to develop the skills they need to integrate and be part of their community and improve their health and well-being and that of their families. We have a strong focus on employment, working closely with iWork, the council’s employment support service, to support people to start the journey into work and get the jobs they need to have the careers they want. We deliver in over 45 community venues through partnerships with services across the council and in the voluntary and community sector. This is an exciting time for the service. The service is performing well and now is a good time to explore developments to extend our reach and further meet the needs of our local community. We are also implementing a new Learning Technology Strategy which was noted as outstanding by Ofsted.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework and the requirements of the Skills Funding Agency. You will understand what is required to ensure the service has robust quality processes for excellent delivery with high learner retention, achievement and success throughout the year, as well as meeting our funding requirements. You will be able to identify areas for improvement and respond to them quickly to ensure a highly responsive service, with a real eye for data analysis, so you and your team really understand how you are performing. You will have strong budgetary skills and will be responsible for ensuring the service is delivered within budget. You will be able to manage your team effectively, in line with council procedures. You will be excellent at developing and maintaining partnerships to strengthen delivery and reach. Strategically you will understand the adult learning landscape, locally, across London and nationally, with a good knowledge of the changes that are being implemented across adult learning, and be able to advocate for the needs of Islington residents with these developments in mind.

If you want to be part of this excellent service and support it to develop, broaden its reach and adapt to the ever changing world of adult education, then this is the post for you.
