Job overview

We are looking for an RE Teacher to join our outstanding school as we grow into our sixth year.  William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has six year groups (7 - 12) totalling almost 1,160 students.  The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.

Over the summer we received our first set of GCSE results which were outstanding both at a whole school and departmental level.  Progress indicators for the whole school place the school in the top 10 in the country.  RE GCSE results were exceptional with 89.2% achieving grades 9-4 (a standard pass or above), 82.8% of students achieving grades 9-5 (a good pass or above) and 48.6% achieving grades 9-7.

The post-holder will be joining an innovative, ambitious and energetic RE department that seeks to deliver an outstanding, three-tiered curriculum to students of all National Curriculum levels.  Students here are driven to succeed and their progress is monitored through half termly assessments. We work collaboratively to create a curriculum that inspires, challenges and nurtures students, using aspirational and ambitious outcomes, which leads to thorough subject knowledge and sustained progress.  Our Sixth Form opened in September 2018 and during this academic year the department will be collaborating on creating a dynamic and exciting KS5 curriculum; those with an interest in teaching A-level are encouraged to apply.
