Do you love reading and want to make a difference for young people?

We are eager to appoint a Reading Lead who shares:

 ·        our belief that being able to read fluently can transform young people’s lives, greatly enhancing their success and wellbeing.

·        our ambition, optimism and determination to ensure this for all our students.

We are looking for someone with a passion for reading and a commitment to overcoming barriers where reading is difficult.

The successful candidate will set the direction for, and lead the implementation of, the reading element of our Additional Curriculum, ensuring that we are supporting all our students to read with fluency and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who are expert in teaching reading – whether you are primary or secondary trained.

It is also an opportunity for specialist SEND teachers, or those with a background in teaching English, or English as an Additional Language.

We don’t mind in what context your track record has been forged. We want your commitment to help our students to make more progress with their reading then they believe is possible! Please be specific in your application about your record in this area.

This role would suit a colleague who wants recognition for your reading expertise at middle manager level, but could also be a great jumping off ground if you’re keen for further leadership development. We’re a large school with a range of opportunities and we believe in working together to build strong teams.

We have an incredibly broad comprehensive intake, and we want all our students to know that they belong and can achieve success in the classroom. You’ll play a key part in promoting this culture and so we’re really looking forward to hearing your ideas.

We are looking for someone who lives and breathes reading, is thoughtful about effective planning and sequencing of reading curriculums, and who is up to speed with current reading pedagogy and evidence-informed practice.

Our young people only get one chance at education. This role will be crucial to building their success and wellbeing and so, if you love reading and want to make a difference for young people, please do consider applying to join our team.
