Job overview

We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Reception Teacher to join the team at Clifton Lodge School for Maternity Cover. We're looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning, is ready to embrace new ideas, and has a positive outlook and excellent interpersonal skills.


Working in our wonderful school you have the freedom to teach the way you like to teach, with smaller class sizes you get to tailor your teaching to your students, you will be able to plan and deliver a creative and stimulating lessons with assistance from our central education team.


About the role

  • To demonstrate great care for each child’s well-being and learning progression
  • To be able to implement an engaging and successful EYFS curriculum based on the EYFS expectations, ensuring the school meets ISI EYFS compliance regulations
  • Prepare reports, attend parents’ evenings and attend staff meetings and training as required. To liaise with parents (in consultation with the Head) regarding pupil learning issues
  • Contribute to a positive working environment with the EYFS staff, attend regular supervision and  Early Years staff meetings.
  • Maintain an ordered and organised learning environment which supports children’s learning.

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Good knowledge of the Early Learning Goals and Age-Related Expectations for the whole of EYFS, in particular for Reception
  • Evidence of excellent classroom practice
  • Enthusiastic, positive and conscientious
  • Keeps well-informed of changes in EYFS
  • Commitment and ability to work with colleagues to improve classroom effectiveness and raise achievement

About Clifton Lodge School

Clifton Lodge is a small, friendly co-educational Nursery & Preparatory School for pupils aged 3-11 years. We welcome children to join Clifton Lodge at any point in the school year where we have places available; from Nursery when pupils are 3 years old through to Year 6 for excellent 11+ preparation. 

The school has a Christian ethos, which combined with its broad curriculum gives pupils the knowledge, skills and moral foundations required for their future schools. We focus on small class sizes, with some specialist subject teachers.

Sport is played twice a week and there is a variety of music, art and drama available.  Extensive free after school clubs are provided together with specialised clubs such as Chess, Computing & Ballet. Nutritious, hot cooked school lunches are prepared on-site in partnership with Thomas Franks Ltd.  

The school motto is Optime, ‘try always to do your best’.  This provides a reminder to pupils and staff alike that no matter what they have achieved so far, they can always try to attain more in the future.
