We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring, committed and well qualified reception teacher to join us at Saint Felix School. As our Reception Teacher you will uphold and actively promote the ethos of Saint Felix School and to deliver outstanding teaching and learning to our pupils.

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 18, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified Reception Teacher for this permanent teaching position starting in September 2023. We welcome applications from experienced teachers as well as those early in their teaching career.

You will join our successful pre-prep department where pupils are taught in idyllic settings that provide a safe, stable environment where they can take their first steps towards a happy, independent life. The team of teachers work well together allowing pupils to thrive.

As our Reception teacher you will,

  • Be responsible to the Head of the Prep Department for all teaching duties and responsibilities.
  • Work closely and professionally with the members of the Nursery and Pre-Prep and Prep Departments.
  • Contribute towards the preparation of programs of work, half- termly planning and termly planning overviews as directed by the Head of Prep, Key Stage and Subject Leads.
  • Be able to set clear targets based on prior attainment, for pupils’ learning.
  • Provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils.
  • Undertake all other classroom duties, including out-of-school activities and outings, care of the environment and corridor/class displays effectively.
  • Take part in and contribute effectively towards weekly departmental and fortnightly staff meetings to discuss curriculum, pastoral, and other matters.
  • Plan for, organise and direct the work of the designated Class TA, (Gap Student or Support Staff) within the class setting.
  • Prepare and deliver topical Assemblies as outlined on the School Calendar of Events.
  • Support the school with retention and recruitment of pupils.

About Saint Felix School

Saint Felix, Southwold has been providing educational excellence for 120 years. A co-educational independent school for boarders and day pupils from the ages of 2 to 18.

Boarding at Saint Felix caters for full, weekly and flexi-boarders between the ages of 9-18 in three boarding houses situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Suffolk coast.
