Contract Term: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new special school, part of the Unity Schools Partnership multi-academy trust, which opens in September 2022. You will have the chance to join the founding team of the school, contributing to shaping provision to transform the lives of generations of children: you will make the difference and be the difference.

Sir Peter Hall School is being set up to educate young people between the ages of 8-16 who have a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of the pupils may also be on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas of Suffolk.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious team-player to support the school’s front office function and work in collaboration with staff colleagues to provide a comprehensive administrative service to the school.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors to the school, carrying out appropriate checks on visitors, controlling pupils’ signing in and out during school hours, taking delivery of items, making, receiving and redirecting telephone calls, voicemail, text and email communications.

Further duties will include:

Creating and maintaining accurate and up-to-date files for pupils

Cash handling

Preparing routine correspondence for parents, carers and others

General office duties

Applicants will need to be able to work effectively and proactively as part of a team, enjoy working with a wide range of people, and be good at seeing and solving problems under their own initiative.

The school is part of a collaborative, forward thinking Academy Trust of 30 schools. The school will also be adding to our network of special schools, alongside Sir Bobby Robson School, Ipswich, The Bridge School, Ipswich and Churchill Special School, Haverhill. In addition to this, we have been approved to open a new special school in Romford. You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer and advice and guidance as the school moves forward.

For more information or for an informal discussion about the role please contact the Headteacher: cwensley@sphschool.org
