Job overview

For over a decade, Ormiston Academies Trust has been steadily, conscientiously helping children to realise their fullest human potential. From the outset, our sole focus has been to provide the best, most transformative educational experience possible, changing lives one lesson – one question, one insight, one discovery – at a time.

Our national network is served by an exceptionally high-performing team of Regional Directors, and we now have an opportunity to take up this exciting, visible and rewarding role in the South of England. We're looking for people whose track record lives up to our high expectations: likely to have held more than one headship, and able to demonstrate sustained impact, you will have an unusually broad and nuanced perspective on how schools thrive and improve, as well as a strong preference for variety and challenge.

The sheer breadth and interest of working across a number of schools, leadership teams and communities is one of the role's most attractive features; but the reward of playing your part in the steady improvement of outcomes for thousands of learners is just as powerful. We want to hear from experienced school leaders who will relish the opportunity to work at every level with and within their portfolio of schools: from chairing strategic progress meetings, to sharing best practice across the Trust, to walking the playground at breaktime, and everything in between.

You'll be ready to take accountability at a significant level. This role will be part of the national OAT leadership team, and we're looking for candidates who combine evidence-based decision-making with professional ownership. Optimistic, pragmatic and passionate about the potential of our schools to change lives, you'll be a flexible self-starter who can work supportively and positively as we constantly challenge ourselves to get better.

Closing date: 10am, Monday 19 April 2021.

About Ormiston Academies Trust

With over 40 schools – currently 32 secondary schools, six primary schools, three alternative provision schools and one special school across five OAT regions, the trust is one of the largest and longest standing trusts in the school system and is guided by our founder, Peter Murray’s belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive.

We provide pupils with the best learning opportunities in every classroom, in every school, every day. We are also committed to the learning and development that takes place outside of the classroom, and the enriching role that schools and education play in children’s lives.

Our schools are located across a diverse range of communities, each with its own unique character, strengths and challenges. OAT believes in the power of collaboration and working as one team across our schools. This collective approach is underpinned by our core values, which sit at the heart of the work across the trust. It is only through a culture of cohesion and shared endeavour, that we will deliver more for children and families.

There is much to be proud of at OAT, but the trust is not complacent and is committed to improving everything it does. Everyone who works at OAT plays a key role in our journey to both develop and deliver our strategy over the next five years.

We look for people who share our belief in the power of education to change lives for young people, and who have the intellectual, interpersonal and operational capabilities required every day to improve education at scale in a national organisation.
