Job overview

LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) are seeking to appoint a self-employed education consultant to join its highly regarded regional team. As a Regional Education Consultant you will work with teachers, farmers and others in the land-based and food sectors to encourage learning about food, farming and the countryside in a wide variety of ways. This is an exciting part-time contract for services offering you scope to be innovative in your approach.

The Regional Education Consultants are key to LEAF Education's work and for most of our beneficiaries, they are the primary means of working with LEAF Education. Our Consultants are highly respected by teachers, farmers and others in their network, for their knowledgeability, friendliness and commitment. RECs are able to take a broad and balanced approach to education in relation to the issues of food, farming and the natural environment. RECs work in their region with local farmers who want to share their expertise and host school visits; with teachers who are supported to use farming and the countryside as a vehicle to deliver the National Curriculum and Exam Specifications; and with a variety of land-based businesses and individuals who share our aims. RECs are encouraged to use and develop their own specialisms (for example sciences, literacy, arts and crafts, geography, PSHE, business, technology, cooking and nutrition) both within their region, and for sharing across regions.

The RECs work closely with a small, friendly national team based at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. Support is always available by 'phone or email and regular meetings are held to exchange ideas and discuss issues of concern.
