Job overview

The David Ross Education Trust are looking to appoint two Regional Safeguarding Leads to provide strategic support to the Head of Safeguarding and to lead on sharing and modelling best practice in relation to safeguarding within our Secondary and Primary academies in either our North or South regions.

If you are a passionate, enthusiastic and energetic individual, committed to delivering the best safeguarding outcomes for children, young people and families, we are looking for you. You will lead on expert support for academies and their communities in the provision for one or more of the following areas: domestic abuse, emotional abuse and neglect, alcohol, drug and substance abuse, and mental health.

You will work alongside the Head of Safeguarding (and other identified professionals) to provide the appropriate interventions to support students according to their needs, in relation to safeguarding and child protection. The ideal candidate will understand the needs of children and young people, particularly those with complex emotional, social or medical needs and behavioural difficulties. You will ideally be a competent and experienced individual with good communications skills in liaising with families, internal staff and external partners.

Working hours will be 37 per week, 43 weeks out of 52 a year; these will fall mainly during term time with agreed weeks to be worked during school holidays.

The North Region role is based in Grimsby and the South Region role in Northampton.  You will be required to undertake extensive travel across our academies in each Region as part of the role.

About you

Honours Degree or Diploma in Social Work

Detailed knowledge of current legislation policy, guidance and good safeguarding practice.

Experience of managing distressing, stressful and emotional situations in an education/ social care setting.

Ability to work sympathetically and sensitively with all those affected by issues of safeguarding.

A collaborative worker and able to forge working relationships quickly.

Ability to manage workload and time effectively.

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.
