The Role


Due to an internal promotion in the Midlands Regional Team, we are looking to recruit a Regional Site Officer to work as part of the team supporting West Walsall E-ACT Academy to provide services consisting of premises security, lighting, heating, cleaning, general maintenance, operation of plant, porter and handy person duties.  


The role is for 37 hours per week and is suitable for candidates looking for a full-time role.


Reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager the purpose of the job will be:


  • To maintain security and safety of premises and contents at all times, open and close at appointed times, carry out security procedures operating intruder alarms as per instructions and securing premises following illegal entry/vandalism
  • To ensure equipment, facilities, sports areas and classrooms meet the needs of timetables and teaching requirements.
  • To ensure all activities and work undertaken meets the H&S standards and are compliant with E-ACT policies.
  • Operate the heating plant, so that correct temperatures are maintained in the premises. Ensuring that an adequate supply of hot water is available.
  • Carry out frost precaution procedures and also the Academy’s procedures concerning the conservation of energy. Clean and maintain the heating plant, boiler house and fan assisted heaters as required

West Walsall E-ACT Academy is a mixed, mainstream, state secondary school in Walsall. It caters to students aged 11-18 and has approximately 622 pupils enrolled. The school boasts enviable sports facilities such as a football and athletics field, eight tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, a gym, a squash court, a large astroturf pitch and a sports hall.

West Walsall E-ACT Academy was originally opened in September 1971 as Wilfred Clark Comprehensive. It later became known as Alumwell Business and Enterprise College, and then West Walsall E-ACT Academy when it converted to academy status in September 2012. It is part of the E-ACT family of academy schools.

West Walsall E-ACT Academy works hard to deliver an excellent education to students of all backgrounds and abilities. Teachers aim to instil in every child the school's three main values: goodness, discipline and knowledge. Through creating a safe and supportive environment, the school hopes to demonstrate its commitment to equality as well as fundamental British values.

The secondary school pays extra attention to English, maths and science, and also offers business, drama, French, Spanish, ICT, PE and music. A STEM club meets once a week to help promote an interest in science and engineering.
