Job overview

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is seeking an outstanding Teacher of Music to work across its Northern Region Academies. You will initially work across Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth and Outwood Academy Riverside. The successful candidate will not only be working alongside colleagues in both academies, but will be joining a wonderful team of Music Teachers in the Northern Region, who regularly work together in creating exciting opportunities for the students as well as sharing ideas and resources.

Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is rapidly improving and growing, and this year saw music back onto its curriculum. A new large Music room has been created to facilitate high quality lessons (which this year have been delivered by colleagues from three other Northern OGAT Academies.) Outwood Academy Riverside is a newly opened free school in the heart of Middlesbrough. In September it will have year 7 and 8 cohorts in the school, and building is underway of a brand new facility ready for September 2022. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the way music is taught in both Academies next year.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be a teacher in a new team who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is ‘Students First’ and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim. Outwood Grange Academies Trust provides a high-quality learning and cultural environment that inspires and motivates children. Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Grange Academies Trust is the place for you. Please note this position requires driving.

The Outwood Grange Family of Schools offers:

• The opportunity to work and progress across the Family of Schools.

• The chance to apply for leadership roles in the Deeps working across the whole Academy.

• The support and expertise of our Directors of Performing Arts working across the Family of Schools.

• A full and detailed programme of support and development for all.

• A further comprehensive programme of professional development provided through the Outwood Institute of Education (formerly the Teaching School).

We believe that all teaching and support staff posts within our Family of Schools are key posts in terms of supporting student success and achievement across a broad range of subjects and experiences. As such we are keen to recruit dedicated and ambitious professionals who will add value to our Academy in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.

In line with the Government’s announcement, our academy is closed until further notice. However, we are still busily planning ahead and are excited about welcoming new recruits to come and join us. In place of academy based interviews, we have set up systems to ensure that alternative options are still available via skype/video conferencing wherever possible. Every effort will be made to try and accommodate any specific requirements so that no-one is at a disadvantage. Understandably, visits to the school are not possible at present, however we are really keen to ensure that you have as much information to proceed with your application as possible, so if you would like a conversation about either the academy or the position please contact our Senior Arts Director Jonathan Morgan, (j.morgan@outwood.com) and he will be happy to assist.

About The Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT)

Interim Chief Executive Officer: Lee Wilson

The Outwood Grange Academies Trust was born out of the success of Outwood Grange: a large school with 2,200 students, which has achieved record results for the last decade.

As one of the highest performing Family of Schools in the North of England, we have transformed education and outcomes across a network of 40 primary and secondary academies. Working closely together and sharing best practice, our schools do whatever it takes to ensure that every child, irrespective of starting point, can realise his or her full potential and unique talents.

Whether you’re joining us as a support staff member, an ECT, in a leadership position, and everything in between, we will invest in you and your development throughout your career.

By all working together, supporting and motivating each other, we believe we can raise current standards, and transform the lives of our students. If, as a Trust, we support you to help you reach your potential, we can help ensure all the children you teach will also reach theirs.
