Salary: Up to £50,000, dependant upon experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for a Registered House Manager with a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management qualification to join their children's home in the Preston area where 4 young people reside. The children’s home is part of a wider cluster of services that specialise in educating and caring for young people with Autism and severe learning difficulties. 

This is exciting opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about improving and supporting the lives of the young people they educate and care for. 

You will have a minimum of 5 years experience of running a successful children’s home and have a strong background in working with children with Autism and severe learning difficulties. 

Responsibilities:

  • To competently complete the registration process with Ofsted and become the Registered Manager.
  • To establish and maintain standards and monitor the delivery of high quality, child centred care to children and young people referred to our service in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • To monitor and maintain good practice in accordance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and know how to implement them in a professional manner in the children’s home.
  • To proactively lead the staff team consistently in conjunction with the deputy and assistant managers with the aim of creating and delivering a safe and warm environment in which Children and Young People can achieve the positive outcomes.
  • To provide professional supervision for all staff, some of which is delegated through other senior staff, to aid their development, learning and understanding of their role, provide constructive criticism and contribute to regular appraisals.
  • To contribute to the recruitment process including short listing for interviews and undertaking membership of the interview panel.
  • To be pro-active in organising visits, forwarding appropriate material to referring authorities and families.
  • To represent when Social Workers or commissioning officers visit.
  • To be prepared to facilitate Ofsted inspections at any time answering questions in a professional manner and providing requested material.
  • Willingness to carry out regulation 45 reports and contribute to the process of Regulation 44 reports when carried out by the Responsible Individual.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs and daily challenges faced by the young people they care for and your focus will be on protection and safety of those young people and staff members. 

You will be able to demonstrate your leadership and decision making skills and will have strong experience of managing large numbers of staff successfully. You will be an enthusiastic leader with the skills to be able to motivate your staff team to gain the best outcomes for the young people in your care.
