Downside is an independent, co-educational boarding and day School for pupils aged 11 to 18, and one of England’s oldest and most distinguished Catholic schools. Downside School is housed in magnificent buildings set in a 500 acre estate at the foot of the Mendip Hills, twelve miles south of the city of Bath.


Registered Nurse, Paramedic or Allied Health Professional – about our Health Centre: We are a 24/7 health provision in a Boarding School for National and International pupils. We have a minor injury and illness treatment room, an eight-bedded unit for in-patient care, three GP led clinics each week, and a team of health professionals who support the day to day health needs of the School pupil population. 


Who we are looking for: Someone with a passion for working in a busy health centre, with robust clinical skills and knowledge in assessing and treating a range of injuries, illnesses and medical conditions. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and understand the way in which different cultural expectations influence health behaviours. As a Health Practitioner you will have the ability to work autonomously, in a team and have a commitment to partnership working. The ability to use your initiative, prioritise and make informed decisions is essential. 


We have an interim appointment to provide cover due to planned absence, but there is scope for this to become a permanent position. We are offering hours of up to 35 per week, working 34 weeks per year during our School term time, plus an additional five days for training and INSET. There are several different shift options available including days and nights, and we will be happy to discuss this with candidates who are interested in applying.


Salary: Commensurate with NHS Band 6
