Job overview

Vacancy for a Relief Minibus Driver (term time only)
Required for September 2025
£16.24 per hour

We are looking to recruit a committed, reliable and experienced driver to join our dedicated team of minibus drivers. As part of our team, we would like relief drivers who we are able to contact, sometimes at short notice, to work adhoc shifts when needed, as well as covering both planned absences and staff sickness.

Our minibus drivers work two shifts; the morning shift is 6.30am - 8.30am and the evening shift is 3.30pm - 5.30pm during term time. Our relief drivers could be asked to cover either shifts or both.

There may be scope to cover airport runs and drive for our co-curricular activities delivered through our Floreat programme.

The successful candidate will:
• Have D1 on their Driving Licence
• Collect and drop off pupils safely on school runs
• Be available for occasional educational visits
• Be available to work and cover planned absence and sickness
• Be an excellent communicator with pupils, staff and parents
We can offer:
• Supportive team of colleagues
• Excellent continuing professional development
• Training will be provided including taking the Kent Minibus test

We would encourage early application as ideally, we would like to appoint before the closing date.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 31 August 2025

Farringtons is a truly remarkable school with both a rich history and an excellent grasp on the various demands of modern day teaching.  Our school motto is “Posside Sapientiam” and we encourage all our students to “Grow in Wisdom” intellectually, socially and emotionally. Our school provides education for boys and girls from age three to eighteen.

Our dedicated and inspirational teachers are wholly committed to helping every pupil achieve their full academic potential, encouraging them to be independent, curious and creative. The school’s enhanced National Curriculum provides a great deal of breadth and it is a fantastic reflection on our pupils that the extra freedom they are given to undertake specialist subjects yields such commendable results year on year.

Equally, however, we believe strongly that learning should not be limited to the classroom nor measured solely by performance in exams. The School fosters an appreciation of, and an involvement in, the local community and pupils are encouraged to learn about, and take part in, fundraising activities for local, national and international charities. We place great emphasis on providing opportunities for pupils to pursue a wide range of extra-curricular interests, on developing the art of leadership, teamwork and those all-important soft skills. This is seen not only in sport but also in Music, Drama and the Arts as well as through our vibrant Floreat activities programme.

As one of Kent’s leading independent co-educational day and boarding schools, the beautiful buildings, outstanding facilities and expansive school grounds, are an amazing asset given our proximity to central London. What invariably strikes visitors to Farringtons is the friendliness of everyone they meet and the sense of family and community.

Underpinned by the school’s strong Christian ethos, we also take great pride in the quality of our pastoral care and the excellent relationships which exist between staff and pupils. Being a co-educational school, with both day pupils and boarders who choose to come to us from all over the world, we are blessed with a very diverse and cosmopolitan community, something we consider to be a real strength.

Academics

In Summer 2021, the School was proud that at GCSE all subject areas achieved a series of excellent results. 14 subjects achieved 100% pass rate. In English and Mathematics, over 53% of grades were awarded the top bracket of 7, 8 and 9. Just as impressively, the value added scores were 29% higher than predicted when those students joined the School in 2016.

The 6th Form students achieved equally impressive results in their A Level and BTEC results. 78% of grades awarded were A* to B, with just over 50% of all grades awarded at A*/A. Almost a third of all our A Level students secured a clean sweep of three A*/A.

At Farringtons, all pupils are helped to achieve the best academic results they can. This is true in the Junior and Senior School where year on year our pupils surpass themselves by achieving results significantly higher than the national average. This is accomplished by dedicated teachers with supportive parents encouraging every pupil to be the best they can be.
