We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and creative teacher of Religious Education to fill a minimum part-time (0.6 FTE) vacancy. The post would suit an experienced classroom practitioner at any stage of their career and the ability to teach A-Level Religious Studies would be an advantage. For applicants wanting a role in excess of 0.6FTE, the ability to teach another subject, particularly Geography or PSHE, would be advantageous. Also, there is an opportunity for a candidate with suitable skills and experience to take on a leadership role for PSHE within the school, which carries a TLR payment. Applications from well-qualified NQTs are very welcome.

Philosophy and Ethics (Religious Studies) is a strong subject within the school; currently all students in Years 10 and 11 follow a core, non-examined programme alongside a minority of students who complete the full GCSE course. There is also a committed uptake to A Level in the Sixth Form each year.

Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11-18 selective school with academy status, located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4. We have approximately 1180 students, over 320 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The school is heavily over-subscribed and draws students from a wide geographical area and range of backgrounds. The school was last inspected in 2007, and was graded outstanding in all categories.

Applications should be returned by midday on Wednesday 22nd April addressed to Mrs J Milward, Headteacher’s PA. Interviews will take place as soon as possible after the closing date although we reserve the right to interview promising candidates prior to this date if applications are received early. Please note that due to the restrictions imposed on schools due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is unlikely that candidates will be able to visit the school or teach a lesson as part of the interview process. Instead, candidates’ teaching and leadership ability will be assessed through other activities and online interviews.
