Job overview

Required for September 2024 onwards. This is a great opportunity for an outstanding, enthusiastic and well-qualified or newly qualified teacher of Religious Studies, who is keen to develop their teaching and leadership skills in a successful school that will provide great support and encouragement.  Seven Kings is an oversubscribed harmonious, all through community school with exemplary behaviour.

Religious Studies is a popular and successful subject at Seven Kings. The Department has a legacy of outstanding results both at KS4 and KS5, adding significant value to students.  The department and subject have grown in the last 3 years with the subject gaining further popularity at GCSE and has recently introduced the GCSE short course in year 9.

Our curriculum is designed to give every student, at all Key Stages in our all-through school, a greater ability and confidence to express their own beliefs whilst respecting the faiths and beliefs/non beliefs within our community and society and  to take this learning outside of the classroom when interacting with religious or non-religious beliefs.  Our curriculum develops students oracy skills so they are able to listen, to feedback and challenge around their own beliefs and discover who they are in the wider world. Students’ learning experiences are characterised by their exploration of a range of moral issues. They develop their skills in empathy, debating and evaluation through a range of religious teachings and ideas. A key aspect of the Religious Studies department’s vision is to help develop students as independent thinkers.

We are looking to appoint a candidate who is eager to develop this role and we welcome applications which will ensure we are continuing to diversify our staff and leadership, we are committed to equal opportunities. The

department works collaboratively within the school and Seven Kings’ Learning

Partnership of 24 schools, to provide the highest standards of learning and teaching for our lovely, young people. We also run our own ECF programme across the partnership to ensure a supportive, personalised and collaborative 2 years of learning as well as leadership programmes to develop all of our staff.

We ask a great deal of our staff but we offer an outstanding opportunity for the right person to make a real impact on children’s lives, and to develop their career in a harmonious, ambitious and innovative school with enthused, confident children and highly professional, collaborative colleagues. We hope that you will decide to pursue your application and that you will consider a future with us at Seven Kings.

Seven Kings School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share in this commitment.  This post may be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
