ROLE SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Exams Support Coordinator to join our team working between Abergavenny and Crickhowell, Wales, on a full-time permanent position. The role is a hybrid position, working both online and attending our exam centre office in this area. 

 

To strengthen our key objectives of quality, student engagement and scalability, we are seeking to recruit an Exams Support Coordinator who will support the delivery of all internal and external examinations as part of our new three-year Education Strategy. The Exams Support Coordinator will support the Head of Examinations for managing entries for student’s exams, including all IGCSEs, A Levels, International Baccalaureate and other qualifications, and leading on communications with parents, candidates and exam boards and managing Special Arrangements where appropriate. The Exams Support Coordinator will also support students and parents in finding local exam centres where appropriate and ensuring the appropriate levels of information are available online and through other InterHigh communications. The Exams Support Coordinator will play an important role in liaising with the Admissions and Operations teams and in managing enquiries from parents and exam candidates. 

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent administrative and communication skills, expertise, and experience of working in the education and/or examinations sector and experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Examinations. They will work closely with Heads of Subject and other academic staff, the Operations team, as well as with parents, students, and representatives of awarding bodies. 

 

About the Exams Support Coordinator role: 

  • Location – Hybrid: working from home and attending the exam centre as needed 
  • Position type - Full-time, permanent (with probationary period) 
  • Start Date – as soon as possible 
  • Salary Range - Up to £25,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with the exam entry process for all candidates through the exam centre, as well as other private candidate centres, including those undertaking qualifications with NEA (Non-Examined Assessments) 
  • Ensuring JCQ and exam body processes are followed for all entries 
  • Coordinating applications for Access Arrangements for eligible candidates 
  • Administering access arrangements and making applications for special considerations following the JCQ and exam body regulations 
  • Communicating with all relevant stakeholders (e.g. parents and students) and external bodies regarding the exams process 
  • Assisting with the production and distribution of an annual calendar for all exams in which candidates will be involved and communicate regularly with staff concerning imminent deadlines and events 
  • Liaising with teaching staff that the necessary coursework and/or controlled assessments are completed on time and in accordance with the appropriate guidelines 
  • Maintaining systems and processes to support the timely entry of candidates for their exams. 
  • Assisting with the submission of candidates' NEA/controlled assessment marks are, and any other material required by the appropriate awarding bodies correctly and on schedule.

  • A Level qualifications.

  • Specifically, you will ideally have: 
  • Expertise and experience of administering examinations in a school or other educational context 
  • Experience and/or knowledge of awarding organisations and regulatory frameworks for administering examinations 
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and find creative solutions with lasting benefits 
  • A flexible, highly energetic approach and the ability to thrive in a business with a fast changing, collaborative, delivery culture. 
  • Considerable interpersonal communication skills with the ability to form good relationships both internally and externally. 
  • The ability to work independently where necessary but in a collaborative team environment where appropriate.

Inspired Online Schools use state-of-the-art digital technology and operates two established divisions – King's InterHigh, a non-selective fee-paying online secondary school, established in 2005 and a B2B division including Academy 21, serving other educational providers, schools, local authorities and other public bodies.

About our Roles

Here at InterHigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
