RAK Academy is seeking a dynamic and committed Reporting and Control Manager  to join us for the Academic Year. This is an exciting role which will be directly reporting to Management and the reporting to RAKA Committees (including the Audit Committee) and Board of Directors.

The overall purpose of this role is to supervise the Finance Control and Reporting teams and to ensure the implementation of sound financial controlling. The role requires responsibility for the overall financial reporting to regulators, reporting to Management and the reporting to RAKA Committees (including the Audit Committee) and Board of Directors. Further to ensure the supervision of the overall financial audit process, and to be a reference on financial modelling and supervise treasury activity..

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the production of the annual report and accounts process ensuring they adhere to IFRS where applicable. Work with other business areas and external auditors as required to meet financial reporting requirements and audit processes.
  • Ensure on time delivery and overall responsibility of the financial reporting to regulators and supervise the overall internal reporting (to management, Audit Risk Compliance Committee, Boards of Directors) - including MIS
  • Contribute with Director of Finance to present financial reporting and business plans to internal stakeholders and / or external stakeholders upon request
  • Reporting and management information for portfolios, including posting and overseeing the posting of month end adjustments into the general ledger, completing/reviewing reconciliations, obtaining substantiation, completing analytical review of movements and providing commentary.
  • Be the responsible for the budget process, budget review process and providing commentary and explanation of variances.
  • Drive and lead on improvements in the financial control framework.
  • Supervise the financial modelling or financial scenario analysis upon request
  • Support financial simplification processes

Financial reporting

  • Reporting and management information for portfolios, including posting and overseeing the posting of month end adjustments into the general ledger, completing/reviewing reconciliations, obtaining substantiation, completing analytical review of movements and providing commentary.
  • Review, control and management of Fixed assets, Fees collections & receivables, Inventories, and payable management.

System changes and general ledger improvements

  • Lead on the system design change projects including holding working groups, guiding team members and internal stakeholders through test plans and documenting conclusions.
  • Represent Finance and support the delivery of system change projects and understand the change to various system interfaces.

Accounting policy

  • Able to understand and apply accounting standards for portfolios including effective communication of accounting matters to senior management.
  • Interpret the impact of accounting standards on the necessary ledger accounting and support the front office in implementing the necessary changes.

Team building

  • Support senior management with ad hoc projects and activities.

Provide support across the financial control and reporting team.

The candidate must have:

·       Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA preferred) or hold equivalent qualifications; with extensive post qualification experience, ideally in financial services and in financial control and statutory reporting (IFRS experience preferable)

·       Accounting policy knowledge and experience researching accounting standards

·  Excellent understanding of VAT and Corporate Tax Regulatory Requirements

·  Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in Accounting and Finance with at least 3 years of proven work experience in as a Manager / Asst Manager in a Financial role.
