Residence Manager / Head of Boarding

International School Brunei requires an experienced Residence Manager/Head of Boarding to lead our successful Residence team. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic group of live-in and live-out tutors and support staff who focus on the highest possible standards of Residential care in a family friendly, multicultural, inclusive environment. The Residence Manager/Head of Boarding will live in Residence and will be responsible for all aspects of Residence students’ welfare, personal and academic development.

Established in 1964, International School Brunei (ISB) has nearly 60 years of experience as a non-profit, vibrant, inclusive school. Today ISB has over 1300 day and boarding students from 43 different nationalities and highly qualified teachers from all over the globe. In 2015, ISB moved to a bespoke, eco-friendly campus, nestled in primary rainforest, becoming one of the first schools in Asia to win the Green Flag Award. Academic results are excellent, allowing ISB graduates to gain entry to top universities all over the world.  

The ISB Residence provides outstanding facilities and support to more than 80 students. The majority of our Residence students are from Brunei, with most based in Seria or Kuala Belait, both 90mins southwest of ISB where the oil and gas industry is located and where British Forces Brunei are stationed. Students living in Seria or Kuala Belait are 5-day boarders, returning home at the weekends. ISB Residence also hosts a large number of students who are on scholarships from the Bruneian Ministry of Education. These students, along with our international boarders, live in ISB Residence 7 days per week. 

ISB is an inclusive school, therefore the successful candidate will need to have a wide range of pedagogical approaches to teaching and be able to deliver innovative and engaging lessons which engage all students.  

The successful candidate will have (as a minimum):  

·      a B Ed. Teaching degree in a relevant field  

·      a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a PGCE or equivalent teaching diploma  

·      Significant experience working within a Boarding setting
