Job overview

BCS is a rapidly growing co-educational independent school situated on the South coast.

Boarders from age 10 to 18 make up about 25% of the pupil population of the Senior School and represent over 15 different nationalities.

There are two boarding houses, one for boys and one for girls. Each House is led by a Head of Boys'/Girls' Boarding and supported by a number of Housemasters/Mistresses - the majority of whom are teachers or sport coaches with other school responsibilities, so support is needed in the day to-day running of the House.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated professional to join our committed team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to take on an important role in the boarding house.

The successful candidate will:

  • To assist the Head of Boarding, Head of Boys' and Girls' Boarding and Housemasters / mistresses in the day-to-day running of the boarding houses including significant administrative duties.
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of boarders
  • To act as a point of contact for boarders parents / guardians and staff.

As part of United Learning, we offer excellent opportunities for professional development.

United Learning has teamed up with ‘Edenred’ to provide employees with a great selection of flexible rewards including salary sacrifice schemes and access to a variety of retail discounts.

BCS is a co-educational independent school on the south coast. The school has extensive facilities across two sites; BCS Senior (day and boarding, 11-18) is situated in excellent grounds in Southbourne, Bournemouth and BCS Prep (day, 2-11) is in spacious accommodation in Lower Parkstone, Poole. There are currently approximately 630 pupils on roll.

BCS provides a nurturing environment where the happiness of the pupils comes first.

We have developed the 4Cs of BCS; creativity, curiosity, commitment and community and through our broad and dynamic curriculum we believe we equip, challenge and develop pupils in all these important areas.

Our added value also extends to the significant number of co-curricular opportunities offered to pupils, which help to instil and develop the skills we want our daughters and sons to have as they grow up. Consequently, BCS pupils leave the School as well-balanced, confident and versatile young people.

We want to inspire each pupil to make the most of the talents they have. This way the pupils at BCS, of any age, grow in self-esteem, develop resilience, have a sense of fun and adventure and are equipped to flourish as young adults.
