Job Title Resident Assistant

Main duties and responsibilities

• Helping to deliver boarding strategic aims and objectives: with a focus on student satisfaction and developing a consistent high-quality boarding provision.

• Assisting in creating a culture of ambitious and continual improvement to the School's boarding provision: maintaining consistently high professional standards, and a friendly and supportive service to students as an ideal parent would; following all relevant policies and procedures; being a positive, visible and active presence on campus.

• Ensuring student welfare and wellbeing, in line with the School's philosophy of personalised all-round care in an academic setting: safeguarding, complaints, emergencies, student concern or student as a concern; promoting safe choices; awareness of students' all-round general health (including mental health), hygiene, and sleeping patterns and striving to ensure that students are happy and their boarding experience is as good as it can be.

• Supporting the academic and wider aims of the School: ensuring students are studying effectively in the evenings and weekends; taking an active interest in students' university ambitions and encouraging co-curricular pursuits.

• Following day-to-day and overnight operational policies and procedures: as directed by the Head of Boarding, Deputy Head of Boarding and/or Operations Manager, all staff and student routines; rewards and sanctions of students; medical matters and ill students dealt with appropriately; maintaining systems for knowing whereabouts of students during all hours outside lessons; discipline, hygiene and good order.

• Supporting Activities Coordinator: assisting and organising regular student social events on campus, attending and supporting weekend trips and daily weekend afterschool clubs. 

• Assisting front-of-house, including some reception duties: answering phone, courier liaison etc.

• Communication: maintaining excellent communication between academic, pastoral and administrative colleagues.

• Contributing to the marketing of boarding: via social media, a periodical boarding magazine sent to parents, etc.; also working with Academy central offices to celebrate boarding life at EF Academy Oxford (videos, etc.)

• Willing to undertake any related task as may reasonably be requested by the Head of Boarding, Deputy Head of Boarding and/or Operations Manager

• This job description may be reviewed at the reasonable discretion of the Head of Boarding /Operations Manager in the light of the changing requirements of the School and in consultation with the post holder.

• The performance of the post-holder is formatively reviewed over the year as part of the School's performance management / appraisal process. Person specification

• Strong organisational, administrative, and interpersonal skills; able to motivate students, and develop excellent working relationships.

• Able to work well in an international environment.


Remuneration:

• Salary: £18,000

• Working hours: 40 hours per week

• Contract: Fixed-term, until end of June 2022 with possibility of extension, subject to 

satisfactory probationary period of one term

• Notice period: one term

• Pension: Stakeholder pension

• Holidays: 40 days per year plus Bank holidays

• Meals are provided when on duty
