Job overview

We are entering an exciting phase of our continued period of development due to an increase in pupil numbers over the last year. We are looking for a Resident Music Graduate to join our inspirational Music Department. You will be part of a supportive environment to enable further personal and professional development.

For September 2023, Worksop College is looking for an enthusiastic and talented recent graduate to assist its staff in providing an inspirational education by practical example in any instrumental or vocal discipline. You will have knowledge of video and sound recording (Music Technology). The ability to demonstrate strong keyboard skills (piano/organ) would be advantageous.

The post may be adapted to suit the specific talents of the candidate; involvement in the wider aspects of the boarding community is essential. The post will allow time for personal study, but is intended to suit someone with an interest in pursuing a career in education. Given an exceptional candidate and after an initial year of work, the College may offer financial and other resource support towards qualification as a teacher. The strength and value of the of the training provided in this post has contributed to the success of recent incumbents in gaining pivotal roles at other independent school music departments and, indeed, the second and fifth holders of this position continue to work at the College today.

Within small classes you will have access to pupils who are willing to engage in and respond enthusiastically to a range of learning activities.

We will look to close the vacancy and confirm the appointment as soon as we have found the right person to join our team, therefore early applications are encouraged.

Welcome to Worksop College and Ranby House

Worksop College and Ranby House; one community set across two schools - educating children from age two to eighteen. We're proud of being a broad-ability school - with a focus firmly on progress, recognising that every child has their own set of skills and abilities, whether it be academic, sporting, musical or otherwise. We believe that education is about more than the flight towards academic success, but about human flourishing.

We want our students to be the very best version of themselves. If they are destined to attend an established University, here is where they will flourish, or if they are an outstanding sportsperson, here is where they will hone their skills. Perhaps they are a talented artist or musician, here is where they’d perfect their craft, but if these talents are yet to be revealed, here is where they’ll be discovered.

We are a remarkable school, in a stunning setting, with exceptional facilities and a talented teaching staff. At Worksop College & Ranby House, what matters is the individual, their aspirations and their future.
