Resident Graduate – PE and Games

(Your degree does not need to be in a sports related field)

From September 2022 to July 2023

Includes year round residential accommodation at our lovely Reading town centre campus, bills and all term time meals, plus £1,000 per month. Total package: £25,000 per annum.

We have one vacancy for September 2022;

Are you a qualified fitness instructor, or have a real passion and ability in this field? Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing is desirable.

• Do you have a good rapport with young people and are you able to act as a positive role model to them?

• Do you have a willingness to be involved in a range of extra-curricular sporting activities for students, including leading after-school swimming activities?

• Are you able to maintain positive relationships with all, and work as an effective and flexible member of a team?

• Are you considering PE teaching, sports coaching or working in a sports-related role with young people and want to develop your skills and ‘test the waters’? Or perhaps you are considering a year off to try something completely different!

Sports Graduates will work closely with our P.E, Sport & Wellbeing department and professional sports coaches, assisting with the coaching and management of student sporting activities and fixtures.

It is hoped that the PE and Games Graduates will add to the profile of sport at Leighton Park and inject energy and enthusiasm; we find that often our students respond well to those closer in age to them and are inspired by quality sports people.

You will live within the boarding community at our senior school, close to Reading town centre, and also support the pastoral care and recreational activities of the boarding students aged from 11 to 18.

If you have yet to decide your future direction, and want to develop your coaching and sports management skills, our Sports Graduate programme provides an enjoyable and satisfying year developing your skills and working in a team of other recent graduates, in our unique and friendly community.

Leighton Park is a very different kind of school. Take a look at our website  https://www.leightonpark.com/ to get a feel for our ethos and values.

Leighton Park School is a successful, forward looking independent (HMC) day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of magnificent parkland.

Leighton Park exists to form young people of real character and confidence, with a determined desire to change the world, reflecting the school’s Quaker values. In 2023 we won Senior School of the Year in the national Independent Schools Association Awards. We were also a finalist in the Independent Senior School of the Year in the TES Schools Awards 2023.

We are a school that inspires Achievement with Values, Character and Community and academic excellence is the consequence of our approach. Valuing breadth and depth, we are distinguished by excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), Music and Ethical Enterprise. The UK Government’s latest 16-18 league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire and in the top 1% of English schools. We are one of only eight schools to have always appeared in the top 100.

We challenge our students to imagine a better world. We then support them to develop the character, confidence and determination to be changemakers.
