Residential Prep School Assistant
Oswestry School seeks a Residential Prep School Assistant who will take an active role in supporting the senior school boarding community and contributing to the day to day activities in our Prep school at Bellan House. This is a one year fixed-term position from September 2022.
The role will include supporting the safe supervision of pupils in the Prep school, assisting with activities within the classroom and supporting the wider curricular and co-curricular opportunities. In addition, the successful candidate will work and reside within the boarding community on our senior site, making a valuable contribution to the care and wellbeing of our older pupils by providing boarding supervision and activity leadership on some evenings and weekends.
The position would be well suited to someone looking for an opportunity to develop relevant experience in working with children in education and in a residential setting, with a passion and a desire to throw themselves fully into the life of the school.. As one of the oldest schools in the country- founded in 1407- Oswestry School enjoys a strong national and international reputation, and as a small campus school fosters a strong community spirit.
As a residential position, all costs, board and lodgings, are provided as well as three meals per day. A medical support package and use of facilities such as a swimming pool and gym, help emphasise that Oswestry School is a community which cares for its employees.

As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close academic relationship between staff and students. The school adopts a traditional approach to pastoral care, uniform and behaviour. Staff have high expectations of the ability of pupils to police their own behaviour and approach their education in a mature and adult way. The school invests heavily in extra-curricular activities, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme just one of the major activities on offer.
