Job overview

September 2023 – July 2024

We are seeking a friendly, active and responsible individual to join St Swithun’s for the 2023-2024 academic year as a residential sports assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who may want to consider a teaching role in the future, or for a recent sports graduate (although being a graduate is not a requirement of the role).

You will work with the teachers and coaches in the PE department to support the coaching and umpiring of sport. You will also live and work in a boarding house where you will work closely with other members of the house team and provide practical support and pastoral care to the girls in the house.

St Swithun’s is a popular and successful selective girls’ school committed to developing innovative teaching and learning and open communication with parents. We are a kind, understanding and supportive community in which every pupil feels able to try new challenges without fear of failure.

Further details of the post can be found on the school website’s vacancy page, by emailing the recruitment team via recruitment@stswithuns.com, or by calling 01962 835798 and speaking to a member of the team.

Closing date for applications: 9am, 24 April 2023

Applications will be considered as they are received and we reserve the right to close the application process early.

St Swithun’s is a registered charity providing education for boys and girls and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. St Swithun’s Senior School is an independent, Church of England, 11-18, day and boarding girls’ school, situated in Winchester in Hampshire. The school, which has approximately 520 girls on its roll, is a registered charity and is governed by the school council.

In 1884, seventeen pupils began attending Winchester High School. The pupil population then grew to over 60 and the school began to take day pupils and boarders. Its name was changed to Winchester Girls’ School in 1909 and then, after World War I, to St Swithun’s School.
