An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Student Experience and Pastoral Support team a Resilience Coach for our Apprentices and adults students. As a Resilience Coach you will need to be a qualified teacher or willing to work towards and be willing to be a specialist in resilience and / or Mental Health and you will support apprentices and adult students on site and within the work placement.
As a Resilience Coach your role would be to help individuals and groups build the confidence needed to achieve their goals and support them to develop the resilience to cope when times are tough.
You will deliver a range of Personal Development sessions face to face and / or on-line on topics such as:
- Study support
- Keeping Safe (including Prevent)
- Resilience workshops
If you are a Specialist Practitioner of resilience and have a passion for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Pedagogy which supports the learning of individuals who have SEMH needs through teaching useful strategies, such as; social skills, emotional wellbeing, and mental wealth we would love to hear from you.
SEMH needs may manifest through challenging behaviour or low mood. Our specialist will maximise the potential of apprentices and adults by working with them to overcome their barriers to learning, and through advising education staff on how best to support identified individuals and how to embed and enhance social, emotional and mental health pedagogy into practice for teachers and support staff.
Experience of working with apprentices and adults is preferable but not essential, rather a passion to support people during their time at DCG. This role will report directly to the Resilience Coordinator and will be working closely with the Student Experience Manager to ensure students develop confidence, resilience and knowledge so that they can keep themselves mentally healthy and developing students’ understanding of how to keep physically healthy and maintain an active lifestyle as part of the Personal Development agenda through tutorials, thematical weeks and out of class tutoring sessions.

This role is a 37 hour post and there is an expectation that the hours will be worked Monday – Friday with evening work and work within an employers premise (such as Rolls Royce)

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
