Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional, experienced practitioner to apply for the post of Resourced Provision Manager and Assistant SENCO at Parkside School.

Parkside is a highly inclusive school rated good by Ofsted. This post is part of a new and exciting team being developed to support the SEN and pastoral needs of students at Parkside School. The final team will consist of 3 members of staff lead by the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students with SEN, particularly those in our resourced provision for autism. The aim is to ensure that their outcomes are excellent alongside developing well-rounded young people. You will be part of a wider team in a school committed to inclusive and restorative practice and you will be a qualified teacher who will mainly be based in the SEN department. This is an opportunity for someone who shares our values but is excited about being involved in developing an outstanding and expanding provision.

Our vision for Parkside School is that Parkside School should visibly and substantively impact on the community it is embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful and considerable. This means young people from Parkside should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.

This year we are focussing on 3 values for Parkside School. The first is Wellbeing. Essential in the current situation, it is also critical to securing a foundation from which young people can grow. The second is Resilience. So often, young people lack resilience. Now, more than ever, we need to focus on making a quick recovery from any difficulties we have experienced and to learn from them to overcome future challenges. Finally, and the one which is closest to my heart as Headteacher, is Courage. To take Parkside from the good school that it is to the exceptional school we want it to be, we will need to be courageous. We will need to try new things, be open to change and have the courage to put ourselves out of our comfort zones in order to grow.

As with all visions, they mean little unless there is a clear plan for how they will be achieved. At Parkside, this plan will focus on 4 areas. The first is exceptional personal development, ensuring that pupils have access to wide and varied opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. The second is excellent preparation for the future. Thirdly, excellent partnerships for learning. Finally, excellent achievement. Our vision will only be achieved with excellent teaching and learning in the classroom and when students have the self-confidence, self-esteem and support to become someone they may have never seen before – their very best selves.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we are not arranging visits to the school. If you would like to have an informal phone conversation about these roles please contact jill.britton@parksideschool.net who will be able to arrange a phone call with the Assistant Headteacher Inclusion.

If you are as excited by this challenge as we are and you think this might be the role for you, please apply by following the link below, having taken note of the attachments, by the closing date of

Deadline Monday 24th May at 10:00 am

Shortlisting will be completed by Tuesday 25th May
