We are looking for a Resources Manager to take responsibility for the operational planning, organisation, and management of a number of non-teaching aspects of the schools located at Chafford Hundred Campus: Harris Academy Chafford Hundred, Harris Primary Academy Mayflower and Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Line Management

  • Professional accountability for key support staff
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the support provided to the Academies
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and polices in all non-teaching support areas
  • Ensure all support staff have up to date JDs and objectives, and training needs are regularly appraised
  • Direct Line Management of key roles

General Administration

  • Responsibility for the management of the Administration team
  • Oversee the collation of essential pupil and staff data
  • Oversee statistical report generation and statutory returns
  • To act as the Academy “Data Champion”
  • Develop effective communication systems, including telephony and internet

Health and Safety

  • Act as the Academies' Health and Safety Lead
  • Promote and maintain health and safety awareness within the Academies
  • Ensure all health and safety related policies and procedures are managed effectively
  • Provide oversight to the Academy's nominated Medical Lead and act as the Educational Visits Coordinator
  • Organise and minute the termly Health and Safety committee meetings
  • Review H&S policies annually and update as appropriate
  • Report on the effectiveness and efficiency of termly fire drill
  • Ensure risk assessments are in place for activities inside and outside of the Academies
  • To complete regular reviews of practical area Health and Safety folders
  • Provide oversight of all procedures relating to the mitigation of fire risk
  • Maintain central records relating to accidents or dangerous occurrences
  • Provide oversight of the arrangements to implement the Medical care policy and procedures
  • Oversee procedure for reporting hazards
  • Maintain oversight of the organisation and record keeping of all training in relation to health and safety requirements
  • To be the lead contact for external Health and Safety auditors and Health and Safety Executive inspectors as required
  • Ensure that appropriate safety audits are regularly undertaken and actioned
  • Provide oversight of Accident reporting, investigation and monitoring as per Academy Policy
  • To deliver health and safety training to all staff as appropriate

Academy ICT

  • Ensure ICT is used in accordance with policy
  • Liaise regularly with the Federation IT cluster manager to ensure IT systems are effective and efficient
  • Manage the effective use of IT across the Academies
  • Ensure all ICT equipment is well maintained and treated respectfully
  • Ensure safeguarding of students is robust in the use of IT in line with policy
  • Provide oversight of the effective and efficient use of Securus to monitor students alongside the safeguarding team
  • Establish systems in liaison with the Data Manager that create opportunities for more effective use of IT

Other Duties

  • To maintain the Academies Business Continuity Plans and to be a key member of the Critical Incident Team advising the Principal of required actions
  • To assist the Principal with the Academy's Risk Register
  • To be responsible for negotiating and evaluating academy contracts, Service Level Agreements, Leases and scrutiny of the Contracts Register
  • To prepare reports for stakeholders
  • To be responsible for the schools' marketing
  • To be the key contact for all insurance claims
  • To be responsible for the management of the letting contracts
  • To be responsible for the catering provision
  • To be responsible for the Academy School Travel Plan

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • Professional qualification e.g. CIPD Level 3
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software packages
  • Secure Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Basic knowledge of financial procedures
  • Knowledge of procurement processes
  • Knowledge of the key principles of staff management
  • At least 5 years' experience working an office environment
  • Experience of managing H&S
  • Experience of managing HR issues
  • At least 2 years' experience of managing a team of staff in a variety of different areas
  • Experience of training staff successfully in a range of duties
  • Experience of working as part of a team
