Job overview

Lead Rowing Coach

Part time

September 2023

We seek a level 2 rowing coach to lead sessions and develop rowing at Cranmore. The post is for 3 afternoon water sessions per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), as well as some additional land sessions both during term time with supplementary hours for competitions as required. £30 per hour.

Cranmore is a leading independent school in Surrey having taught prep school pupils for 50 years. In September 2019, Cranmore became part of the Effingham Schools Trust and will educate pupils through to age 18. In our February 2022 inspection report inspectors rated the school ‘excellent’ in all areas. They highlighted our strong sporting ethos and that pupils understand that as part of leading a healthy lifestyle, participation in sport and other physical pursuits can make a positive contribution to their physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Cranmore is in an area of outstanding natural beauty with enviable sports facilities including a swimming pool (with a sculling boat for capsize drills) and athletic development centre equipped with Concept 2 ergometers. Water sessions occur on the River Thames, boating from Walton Rowing Club boathouse where the school stores its own quads, doubles, singles, coach boat and blades. Pupils participate in heads, regattas and indoor rowing competitions with a history of winning. In addition to Cranmore School Rowing Club boats the club also had access to Walton’s boats and training facilities. The club is supported by the Walton Rowing Club and also enjoys strong support from parents.

Cranmore presents a thoroughly up-to-date  and superbly equipped independent school on a magnificent 25 acre campus in the heart of Surrey.  Having taught pupils to the age of 13 for 50 years, in September 2019, Cranmore joined the Effingham Schools Trust resulting in the widening of the provision to offer education for pupils age 2 to 18.

The Trust’s diamond model will offer the benefits of the co-ed classroom to very young pupils, the benefits of the single sex classroom in later prep and secondary years, before finally returning to co-education at 6th Form.  This method reflects and acknowledges that girls and boys approach their learning in different ways as they develop.

Cranmore has a wonderful 25 acre site and is blessed with fantastic facilities including a brand new Science and Technology Centre, dedicated music and sports buildings, swimming pool, ICT suites and a Forest School. Combined with its sister school, St. Teresa’s, the Trust has 1,000 pupils and £20m+ assets. There are exciting plans for new capital development as the Trust grows to 1,200 pupils over the next few years.

Cranmore is proud of its reputation as a leading independent school with all round excellence across a broad curriculum enriched with co-curricular activities. We are excited to be expanding our education and invite you to learn more on our website: www.cranmore.org
