Nelson and Colne College, an Outstanding College situated in Pendle, Lancashire, are looking for a diligent and experienced Safeguarding and Welfare Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will lead the services for student pastoral care including responsibility for Wellbeing, Prevent and Behaviour strategies.
With a thorough understanding of Safeguarding and Welfare, the successful candidate will promote and deliver excellent, high quality services for students; including providing support and advice to staff and liaison with Heads of Division. You will lead a team providing full support and advice on a range of issues such as emotional, mental, physical and sexual advice as well as support and advice for homeless students, including liaison with relevant agencies (e.g. Stepping Stones and Safespace).
The ideal candidate will:
· Provide effective line management of the College Safety and Engagement Officers, Safeguarding and Welfare Team and College Nurse
· Lead multi-agency and partnership approaches to safeguarding, personal development, health and wellbeing, and welfare
· Deliver staff training on safeguarding, health, welfare, prevent etc. including half termly inductions
· Responsible for effectively managing resources and budgets in order to deliver Safeguarding and Welfare objectives
The ideal candidates will also have:
· A relevant degree level qualification
· A recognised management qualification
· Experience of effectively leading/managing a team, inspiring loyalty and motivating others
· Proven experience and understanding of providing effective supportive interventions and reactive responses to achieve positive outcomes
· Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive safeguarding matters and provide crisis interventions and guidance to senior leaders and College managers

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms.
Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces.
