37 hours per week; term time only plus 10 Days


Westborough High School is an 11-16 comprehensive school with a passionate commitment to making a difference to children’s lives and ensuring that all pupils have the highest possible learning experience.

We now seek to build on our already strong foundations to continue our upward trend of improvement. A key strategy to enable this development is to appoint to our pastoral team. We are looking for a safeguarding and welfare officer who is passionate about safeguarding young people, is caring and supportive and who is not afraid to be an advocate for pupils when necessary. 

The safeguarding team provide high quality, effective safeguarding and pastoral support across the school and you will add value to the team. You would also have responsibility for maintaining accurate records, working with staff, pupils, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support pupils and their families. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance in this role.

 

Essential qualities for all applicants include amongst other things:

  • The ability to effectively communicate with children/young people, school staff and outside agencies.
  • An understanding of child development and learning including Special Educational Needs and also Child Protection Procedures
  • Experience of mentoring and one to one support with young people
  • The ability to work with parents and carers in order to support the education of the pupils
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
