Term Time only 35 hours per week (including some evening meetings)

We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work closely with the senior leadership of the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust and the Trust board (Directors). The role would be based at St Mary’s Catholic School, Bishop’s Stortford.

If you can answer yes to these questions, then we may have the ideal opportunity for you to be part of our thriving Academy Trust of 8 Academy schools.

  • Are you looking for term time working in a support role in an excellent and thriving Academy?
  • Can you provide diligent, clear administrative guidance and support to the senior leadership team?
  • Are you a strong communicator, with a practical approach to problem solving who can act as a point of communication between the Trustees and the leadership team?
  • Do you have the experience and skills or be willing to train to obtain those skills to advise the school and Trustees of their responsibilities and duties?

The role requires a strong understanding of school/Trust/company secretarial procedures and regulations (or willingness to undertake to train to obtain this), organisational skill and preparation, and the ability to work with colleagues to meet a range of internal and external deadlines. Skills or experience in business administration/company secretarial roles and/or a knowledge of school/Trust/governing body procedures may be an advantage, although this is not essential.

The successful candidate will, be able to work independently on their own initiative to meet strict deadlines whilst at the same time forming effective relationships with Directors, Headteachers and staff.

The majority of the role will be carried out during the school day, although there will be some evening meetings you will be required to attend. Those meetings which take place in the evening can be hosted at any one of the schools within the Trust. Some clerking for schools within the Trust may also be required.  The successful candidate will manage all meetings at Board level within the Trust. This will include the collation of agendas, circulation of documents, taking of accurate minutes and generally ensuring that every meeting runs smoothly and efficiently. They will also administrate the Trust website so that all statutory documents and other information is up-to-date and easily accessible.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS Disclosure is required for all successful applicants. An application form (Support Staff) can be found here

Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
