Job overview

The Grange Therapeutic School is an independent special school for young people who have an Education, Health and Care Plan for social, emotional and mental health difficulties, aged 7-18 years. We are a small school with up to eighty-five pupils and have a mixture of day and residential pupils.

We are looking to recruit a hardworking School Administrator to join our admin team, working in a busy – and often demanding – school office. The idea candidate is a team player who is able to multi-task and deal with complex enquiries and professional issues. Experience of working in an educational setting or a lively office environment is essential and you must be able to drive.

You will be responsible for the recruitment of all staff members, including pre-employment checks; ensuring rolling DBS checks are processed and that the Staff Central Register is maintained and up-to-date. You will also deal with the administrative side of HR issues for the whole staffing group, liaising with our Head Office.

The position also requires regular content management of the school website, administrative contribution to Ofsted inspections and the inputting of data for the annual DfE School Census. You will also be the main point of contact for parents and Local Authorities, dealing with the administration of pupil referrals and work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

The post is 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year with 22 days paid annual leave.

Acorn Care and Education are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to fully Enhanced DBS. We expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment and strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for everybody in our care. A full application form must be completed with all employment dates accurate and gaps in employment accounted for.

In its stunning country setting The Grange day and 38 week residential school offers a holistic therapeutic approach in its teaching and environment.

Small class sizes and an onsite therapy team help pupils re-engage in education through traditional learning opportunities alongside numerous off site vocational options and accredited activities which develop the boys’ confidence & social skills, improving their potential to move on to a meaningful adult life.

The individual curriculum is extended to well resourced primary classes where pupils are also encouraged through a nurturing approach in lessons and during play activities.

Primary and secondary schools are just a short walk from each other and set close to the two small and homely boarding houses which offer outstanding wraparound care for the school’s weekly boarders.
