This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator. The Beacon Business Innovation Hub is an Alternative Provision Free school that opened in September 2014 with a unique, creative curriculum for 14 – 19 year olds with a wide range of support needs. We are co-located at the heart of the Beacon Campus. We have approximately 70 learners on site and provide them with aspirational work related, occupational pathways and progression routes tailored to suit the individual student. 

We are seeking to appoint an effective School administrator that is committed to providing an outstanding service to our staff and students. The successful candidate will be required to fulfill a full range of duties to support and enable the best possible learning environment for our students.

School Administrator Beacon Business Innovation Hub

Purpose of role

  • To work alongside key school staff and our data team to: 
  • Undertake a range of administrative duties to support the School to deliver a consistent, high quality, integrated and seamless service. 
  • Promote and support high levels of attendance
  • Form strong relationships with parents/carers

General duties and responsibilities 

  • Provide outstanding administrative support to ensure the effect running of the School on a daily basis 
  • Take an active role in supporting the administration of students Education, Health and Care Plans
  • Provide daily administrative support for improving School attendance
  • Ensure the efficient and effective management of the reception area

The above mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive, duties and responsibilities of the post may change as requirements and circumstances change. The post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as requested by management that are broadly within the level of the post.


Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge & Attributes

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification 

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Attributes

  • Qualification at Level 2 (Grade C or above) in English and Maths 
  • Knowledge or experience of SEND or equivalent
  • ICT skills and knowledge of other specialist equipment/resources.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Able to work effectively in a team and contribute to its success
  • Good written English and effective communication skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with telephone callers and visitors
  • Ability to remain calm, composed and flexible within a busy and demanding environment
  • Ability to undertake a wide range of clerical, administrative and general duties.
  • Accurate in recording details and make full use of the schools’ computer systems
  • Reliable, respectful, responsible & conscientious approach 
  • Flexibility to deal with diverse needs of the post and movement between departments and the Trust
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships 
  • Integrity and confidentiality to be maintained at all times
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently

Welcome to Beacon Business Innovation Hub, an Alternative Provision Free school that opened in September 2014 with a unique, creative curriculum for 14 – 19 year olds. BBIH is co-located at the heart of the Beacon Campus. The state-of-the-art learning space was designed to mirror a professional and contemporary, working environment and officially opened in October 2015.
