Inspired learning. Empowering young women of integrity. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced School Assistant to join our school in the Learning Enrichment Department.

The School Assistant will assist and participate in activities that enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of the girls in the Junior School. They will also assist the teaching staff in the preparation of teaching materials and with general classroom non-teaching duties.

The position available will be commencing in Term 1, 2021 and is a permanent part time position that will be full time Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 4pm in 2021 and will transition to three days a week in 2022.

This role is employed during the school term periods only. It is preferable that applicants have classroom experience.  The willingness to support a team and our students welfare and learning is paramount.  Familiarity with educational technology is highly desirable.

The key responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

If required, to be responsible for the coordination of the activities of a group of children for short periods of time throughout the day;

Help supervise students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess, and on excursions;

To implement parts of the program, as developed by the class teacher  and  to  provide feedback  to the class teacher;

To assist the class teacher with the recording of children's progress and other  activities;

To assist in providing a healthy, safe and welcoming  environment;

To assist the class teacher as required in setting up and cleaning away equipment, attending to the needs of children, administrative duties, and any other tasks  incidental  to  their  primary  contact role;

To assist with the indoor  and outdoor  supervision of the  children; and

To attend to physical needs of the children including those of a sensitive nature.

We are looking for  educators who:

Good communication skills with all community members including teachers,  children and  parents;

Has a professional attitude to your work;

Has a strong regard for pupil safety and well-being;

Has the ability to work positively  with children and y to motivate, inspire and build rapport;

Has excellent team working ability;

Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly;

Has a willingness to keep up to date with educational policy and training related to your role;

Will support the co-curricular and pastoral care programs at the school;

Will actively support the ethos of this Anglican Independent School; and

Has a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Kambala is an all-girls, non-selective, Anglican, independent, all-through day and boarding school in New South Wales, serving students from the age of 4-18. The all-through school is situated in Rose Bay, and overlooks the Sydney Harbour. 

Kambala was founded in 1997. The current principal has been there since 2014. It is divided into three sites: the school’s early learning centre, a primary school and a secondary school. The school places a huge importance on IT skills, seeing all students equipped with their own iPad from primary school. It is vital to the all-through school that teachers benefit from professional training opportunities in a welcoming and stimulating working environment.

Kambala boasts a wide range of modern learning facilities across its three campuses, including multi-purpose halls, multiple play areas, a 25-metre swimming pool, a large, well-stocked library, extensive outdoor grounds, science laboratories, photography lighting rooms and sports courts.

Curriculum

The all-through school offers a broad and varied curriculum, including an extensive range of languages - French, Japanese, Latin or Mandarin. In secondary school, pupils work to study towards the International Baccalaureate (IB). Extracurricular activities are available for students to get involved in, ranging from sports to a school choir. There is also private tutoring for students requiring additional help.
