School Attendance Officer– Term time Only, 36 hours, Permanent post.

Grade 3A point 26-29 £20,194 - £22,397 (Actual salary).

We are seeking someone to lead on ensuring excellent attendance and punctuality is continued at school. This is very much a “front line” position.

We are looking to recruit someone with a positive and proactive approach to join our team and support the Pastoral team comprising of a Senior Leader Pastoral, Lead Head of Year, Heads of Year, Family Support Worker and Pastoral Administrator. They have a strong, mutually supportive team ethos and regularly share ideas. You will also work closely with the Data team and the Inclusion Team. The team is based in the Student Services area at the front of the School.

You will be at the school gate each morning, encouraging and rewarding punctual children, picking up children from home if need arises and knocking on doors to ascertain where children are if necessary. Organising attendance panel interviews and liaising with council staff to fine and prosecute in the final instance.

The Attendance Officer plays a key role within the School to support students in maintaining good attendance and liaising with parents on a daily basis to ensure that all students are accounted for.

The role also involves significant work with professional colleagues, the monitoring of data and communication and presentation of this data.

Previous experience within a School, Academy or other educational setting is an advantage.

What's essential is an approachable and engaging manner with the ability to communicate with ease with staff and students, good organisational skills combined with the ability to work to tight deadlines; managing your own time and daily routine to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines set.

A good working knowledge MS Office applications, in particular Excel and excellent attention to detail is also needed. A knowledge of the SIMS Management Information System would be an advantage, although relevant training will be provided.

This is an exciting time to work at Walkden High School. Not only are there the fantastic opportunities provided by the School, but we are rapidly moving forward as a School creating an inclusive environment, where every student has the opportunity to meet their full potential.

Our mission is to provide an academic education within a comprehensive setting. We are passionate about caring for our students and in doing so we aim for the STARS: Sensible, Thoughtful, Ambitious, Respectful & Supportive – qualities you will display to inspire our students.

This school is committed to safe-guarding and promoting the well-being of children. The post is subject to enhanced disclosure & barring check.

Applications will only be accepted from candidates completing the Salford School application form in full. CV’s will not be accepted.
