Oswestry School is an independent, co-educational day & boarding school, with a 11-18 senior school of c.380 pupils (120 of whom board) and a 4-11 junior school (Bellan House) of c.120 pupils. Bus Driver - to start September 2023 or earlier if available
Oswestry School is seeking a part time bus driver for 25 hours per week, term time only to start in September 2023 or earlier if available . There may be an opportunity for additional hours. Candidates must have schedule D1 on their clean driver’s licence and the ability to be flexible with hours is preferred.
Closing date for the above position: 12 noon on Friday 2nd June 2023.

Located in the ancient town of Oswestry in the county of Shropshire, the School was founded in 1407 and, as such, lays claim to being one of the oldest truly independent schools in the country. It is located in a beautiful corner of Shropshire close to the Welsh border and enjoys a campus setting and extensive playing fields. Just 30 minutes from the market town of Shrewsbury and an hour from the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester, the School is well located and draws pupils from all over the county and beyond through its extensive bus routes. A dynamic boarding community with pupils coming from over 30 countries provides a vibrancy and exciting diversity to the School; internationalism and diversity is celebrated and championed.
As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close professional relationship between staff and students. Our last ISI report described pupils as “energetic, articulate and responsible throughout the school.” Deliberately non-selective, the School strives to nurture and develop the talents and abilities of each and every pupil both inside and outside the classroom. Recent facility development includes a new Library, a refurbished Sixth Form Centre and a new co-educational Sixth Form Boarding House. An ambitious development of a Performing Arts Centre with a £2.4m capital project will see the school’s Memorial Hall transformed into a state-of-the-art 180 seat auditorium in September 2026 which will be right at the heart of our school.

Values and vision
As a relatively small independent school, Oswestry School is able to offer smaller class sizes as well as a close academic relationship between staff and students. The school adopts a traditional approach to pastoral care, uniform and behaviour. Staff have high expectations of the ability of pupils to police their own behaviour and approach their education in a mature and adult way. The school invests heavily in extra-curricular activities, with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme just one of the major activities on offer.

In the senior school, where a third of pupils come from a wide range of countries, tolerance and mutual respect are firmly established, and this has a profound influence on the school as a whole.”
