Due to the retirement of the current post-holder, the Governors of Greenfield Primary School wish to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced School Business Manager to work in our busy and vibrant school.  Previous experience of working in a school is advantageous for this very rewarding role.


The Business Manager will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the Headteacher by managing strategic and operational aspects of the school, thereby ensuring that the school fulfils its educational aims and excellent outcomes. 


These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

· Financial management and marketing

· Overseeing the premises and facilities, lunchtime provision, Health & Safety and risk assessments

· HR and personnel systems including recruitment

· Actively look to generate and co-ordinate new income streams

· Maintaining statutory GDPR requirements and liaise with the DPO

· Safeguarding duties (maintaining the SCR and DBS)

· Maintaining strong communication within school and beyond to stakeholders, parents and the wider community



The successful candidate will demonstrate that they are:

· Experienced and knowledgeable in business, finance and resource management within a school environment;

· Skilled at managing systems, people and supervising staff within a team environment;

· Able to think creatively, strategically and to problem-solve with a can-do attitude;

· Be well organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

· Have experience of data management and analysis;

· Skilled at using a wide range of school systems;

· Able to create and present a variety of reports to various stakeholders;

· A positive, caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with the school community, especially children!

Greenfield Primary is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational primary situated in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It is an average-sized state community school, and provides 312 places to pupils aged 5-11.

Greenfield Primary describes its vision as being to “try our best, to be the best we can”. It considers itself to be a school where all staff have high expectations of student work, children are able to improve easily through feedback, and parents, carers, staff and pupils all share the same positive attitude towards education and behaviour. Expectations are equally high for the whole school community. The school makes use of both formative and summative assessment to raise pupils’ achievement and to help teachers identify their progress.

The school provides a selection of extracurricular activities, including cooking club, street dance and gymnastics, to help fit in with children’s hobbies. Greenfield has recently received awards from Healthy Schools, Sport England, Financial Management Standard in Schools and ActiveMark.
