Then here is the opportunity to use your expertise in academy finance to support this established Alternative Provider during the current conversion to Free School status: your financial expertise, business and commercial acumen will be valued as part of a pioneering approach in a growing senior team.

The Boxing Academy is a ground-breaking and unique school which uses boxing training in parallel with academic study to engage young people for whom mainstream school is no longer an option. In March last year the DfE approved our application to become an AP Free School and, as part of that transition, the academy buildings are undergoing significant extension, adaptation and refurbishment to provide amazing facilities to support learning, developing life skills – and upgrade our boxing ring!

Crucial to your success will be competency and experience of academy financial management, compliance with and knowledge of the Academy Finance Handbook, plus the ability to underpin strategic plans with sound budgets. Our ideal School Business Manager will adopt a rational, calm and systematic approach in handling problems and people, work in a steady, organised manner within a vibrant environment and see tasks through to completion. An appreciation of the challenge of working with alternative provision is important, as is an understanding of the benefits of boxing training.
